Poker: A tax on the willing

Poker parties are a great new source of income for local charities. The players buy chips and play against each other, and the hosting charity has no investment in the games, as they are simply taking 10% of the pot up to a five-dollar ($5.00) maximum. If a pot is $30 the charity will take $3.00 for the house; if the pot is $80 the charity will take the maximum of $5.00

Rockford Charitable Games Association has been working with charities in the Rockford and Chicago areas for over 20 years in hosting charity casinos. Gaming at the event is predominantly ‘Texas Hold’em’ Poker, representing the most popular trend in America at this time.

Rockford Charitable Games Association is a consulting and party-planning organization assisting charities in exploiting the best possible customer base for the area that a venue is scheduled for by utilizing a massive player mailing list database of over 10,000 active players.

Rockford Charitable Games Association is not a licensed supplier of equipment or a licensed location provider, but we work with several established equipment and location providers to get you the best venue and equipment for the area.

Poker has enjoyed a massive surge in popularity in the last few years thanks to the growth of media attention, such as the World Series of Poker on ESPN and the Travel Channel’s coverage of the World Poker Tour, as well as NBC and other major networks’ coverage.

Charity poker has the advantage over house-backed games such as blackjack, craps or roulette because the players are competing against each other rather than the house, with a small percentage taken from each pot. This means the house cannot lose.
